Since 2003, the takeover of the pistons business of the Japanese Microtechno Corp., Hiroshima, Japan, has been among the important strategic activities of Kolbenschmidt in the Far East. Acquired from Mazda, this company has since 1972 been manufacturing pistons and other precision parts for the auto sector and other industrial applications.
The move is another step forward in expanding Asian business. The pistons plant of Kolbenschmidt K.K. presently employs a workforce of around 180.
