KS GleitlagerIn its capacity as an engine component maker, Kolbenschmidt Pierburg AG has been concerned for many decades with plain bearings for a huge variety of applications - initially in Neckarsulm, then in St. Leon-Rot and, since 1969, in Papenburg as well. This was when the then Kolbenschmidt GmbH took over the Papenburg plant from Höveler & Dieckhaus. In 1997, Kolbenschmidt GmbH’s plain bearings business was converted into KS Gleitlager GmbH, which, together with KS Gleitlager USA Inc., USA, and KS Bronzinas Ltda., Brazil, have since formed the independent KS Gleitlager division.
Today, KS Gleitlager is the specialist in high-precision sliding elements within the Kolbenschmidt Pierburg Group. The introduction of new technologies in production and surface treatment, innovative development work and a clear customer orientation have made KS Gleitlager one of the world’s leading suppliers of engine bearings and dry bearings (Permaglide®).
The current product range comprises over 3,000 marketable items. The portfolio covers bearing shells, bushings and thrust bushings made of aluminum, bronze and brass, of either solid metal or steel composites.
Dry bearings of steel-plastic composites for low-maintenance and maintenance-free applications are also included in the spectrum of materials and products. Today, KS Gleitlager contributes up to 70 different Permaglide® bearings to modern vehicles, thus ensuring the smooth motion of everything from the sunroof to the seat adjustment mechanism. The robust processes in production make use of advanced measurement and test equipment operated by highly skilled staff. These are indispensable for the high quality of KS Gleitlager products and hence for maximum customer satisfaction.
